On 20 and 21 December 2022, the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Montreal Eugene Czolij spoke at the Saint Sophie Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Montreal during the Panakhyda and Funeral for 7-year-old Mariia Legenkovska, who arrived in Montreal in July 2022 because of Russia's genocidal war against Ukraine and died on 13 December 2022 after being struck by a vehicle.
